Review of Clash by Night (1952) by Trent M — 21 Nov 2007
Barbara Stanwyck plays it well, and Marilyn Monroe isn't yet relegated to being a bubble-head (though who believes that she'd ever look that good after a shift at the cannery?). The men are all needy and desperate for a woman, even Robert Ryan gets whiny.
And I hated the freeloading Uncle with his henpecking of his nephew and thoughts on women (that are played as extreme even for the time.) Uncle Vinnie: The little weasel... Anyway, this isn't great Lang, and it's a noir-melodrama/women's film rather than based on crime, so know that going in and you'll be less disappointed.
