The movie's a mess. A huge, muddled mess. Let me get the good things out of the way first. The alien is cute, the antics can be funny at times, and the message it gives is great. Now to the crapiness:
This movie makes no sense sometimes. It is labelled in my book as the most random movie of all time. It is an unbalanced combination of every single romance. They try to aim for the family comedy, but we also get bits and pieces of every other genre. Sci-Fi, Romance, Kung-Fu action. They even have a tint of horror with and image of a humanoid figure being hanged (hung, whatever it is). Also, some of the acting is pretty bad.
I'm very disappointed with Stephen Chow. Just pop in a copy of Shaolin Soccer instead.
