Review of City of Women (1980) by Vineeta S — 06 Jul 2008
Through his alter-ego Mastroianni, Fellini escalates his fascination and fear of woman to a futuristic fantasy: escaping a convention of lesbos, he takes refuge with the macho lord of the Phallic Mansion and his gallery of 999 conquests.
The 1000th is marked with an operatic adieu to the pre-feminist woman, before Fellini takes on an amusement ride of his own 'assophiliac' encounters.
