Review of City of Men (2007) by Nadeem M — 29 Oct 2007
Great 'follow-up' to the amazing City of God, spawned from the TV series, which itself was a spin-off of the original film! This time the story is about 2 young men, just turned 18, who are trying to break away from the favela and the violence that goes with it.
One of them is trying to be a responsible parent and husband, whilst the other wants to track down the father he never new. Amidst this human element of the film, there is the gang violence which breaks out between rival factions.
All in all, another great film, which doesn't fall into the trap of being more of the same, just with older kids this time.
