One of the first films to see in the new year, and it is one of the best movies I have seen in recent memory, and bound to be a future classic. Disturbing, Violent, Devastating, and Haunting. You owe yourself to see it.

Taking place just before the fall of Nanking to the Japanese Army through the soon aftermath, the film is told through the eyes of many, including a Chinese sniper, a Chinese child, a Chinese assistant to a German priest, and a horrified Japanese sergeant. The film doesn't flinch to show the brutality and inhumane acts that resulted in 300,000 deathsof innocent civilians and soldiers, and it does make you think about how such an attrocity could have happened in the 20th century. Humans are still dumb for the most part, being easily manipulated and not using their minds to think, or willpower to make a change. A documented reminder of that to ask the viewer, "Why?".
