Disturbing. Riveting. City of Life and Death is a masterpiece. One of the greatest war films ever. Makes you pray that you, your children, and grandchildren will never have to go through what the Chinese people had to endure.
This movie sparked protest and outrage from both Japanese and Chinese viewers. The Japanese say the film vilified them. The Chinese say the film showed the Japanese had humanity.
