Review of City of Life and Death (2009) by Jeff C — 30 Jan 2012
Sticking with monochrome for the entire slog, was an interesting choice. It would have been a nice nod to Schindler's List and made the scene much more powerful if the girls blood was shown as red after being thrown from the window, instead of not shown at all and focusing on Mr, Tang.
Gunshots punctuated with frames of color would have been great too, but they were going for a 30's look and they got it. Too long, but still powerful, especially the bizarre celebration at the end.
