Review of City of God (2002) by Ryan K — 07 May 2013
From the opening scenes you can see the strength in cinematagrophy that remains for the duration of the film. The narration is the introduction of the films characters which tell the story of the city of god.
The outline is simple but utterly genius, the characters tell the city, the city is the story. American films about young hoods could never compare to this flick. The Brazilian grit and lack of care for human life makes it an unforgettable foreign film.
One of the greatest drug related movie ever. Lil Ze is comparable to Tony Montana. Constantly on edge, compelling and dramatic. This gives you an insight into a life that most never scratch the surface of.
