Review of City Lights (2014) by Tor M — 03 Sep 2014
My second Chaplin flick. It's so interesting to see how much quality his films countain. The story is, just like "The Kid", superb. The poor versus the rich. This film also got a great aspect of love.Great music and some nice filming tricks.
I feel it's Chaplin's anti-drinking film - what booze do to you.
Funny, but mustly charming and smart. Still, you always get's what's coming - the shocks stay out of the picture. Very original, and often clever. It may not make you laugh a whole lot, but it gave me several smiles, if not a constant one.
8 out of 10 lucky rabbit feet.
