Review of City Lights (2014) by Rainer G — 02 Feb 2009
Revisiting this film was like seeing an old friend. I was reminded of Chaplin's quirky grace, perfect comedic timing, and undeniable heart, and humanity. This is Chaplin's seminal film, perfectly combining comedy, and sentimentality with consummate effortlessness to tell a story of a love so pure it almost seems unfit for our world.
The ending is one of the most sublime and touching in film history. There are very few perfect films, and this is one of them.
