Review of City Island (2009) by Leonardozapanta L — 02 Sep 2010
This is yet another quirky dysfunctional family comedy, but it's a darn good one. Every member of the Rizzo family has secrets they are keeping from one another, and this cozy little world of deception implodes when "corrections officer" Vince brings home a convicted felon, who also happens to be his long lost son, to live with them.
The movie is very New York, very Italian, and basically has the plot of an Italian tragic opera. However, it's often quite funny, thanks to the many awkward situations and superb performances, especially from Andy Garcia and Julianna Margulies.
This is one of those under-the-radar gems waiting to be discovered. Highly recommended!
