Review of City by the Sea (2002) by Paul J — 15 Oct 2007

Good movie was 'City by the Sea'. Brought back memories of my tough life when the movie was made. I had the drug problems that the charactors had, in 2002- the worst year of my life so far. Hopefully the worst period. I was homeless, had a hustle and was sick all of the time. So people ot there forgive the writers if they overcompensated for some of the behaviors of Joey's girlfriend. Damn, at least she had a job. Hey, at least she had her gas on too ( lighted cig on it). That's saying something. I would have paid 20 bucks for that guitar now, but when I was hurting I pawned mine for 30 bucks. You know I have this thing about pawn shops- they are convenient, but for some reason I completely associate their purpose with getting money fast. I know they love people like me too since I never go back and get my stuff- even when I've got the cash! It's a horrible hang up of mine and it probably comes from growing up with so much shame. It goes like this- if I was stupid enough to need money so bad and to give up something for pennies on the dollar, then I deserve to lose it completely. OUCH! And THAT is why I never go to pawn shops people. When I was a junky I lost 2 nice guitars, a 500 dollar bass cabinet for a big $70 loan. I even had the money several times... okay okay I'll quit rambling. But, STAY AWAY FROM DRUGS. PERIOD! And watch this movie. Now that I've been clean for 4 1/2 years I can watch it with comfort. Sick isn't it? I mean, how many of you watch war movies all snuggled up on the couch with warm coffee... yeah, sick!

Oh, my rent is due tomarro and I need 300 bucks still. I'm going to bust my ass on selling on ebay, so if you want to help a poor guy get his rent together then go to ebay and get yourself a good vacuum cleaner or something from me, okay. I'm ebay screen name paulj0557. Thanks and watch this movie. By the way, I got my copy from Block Busters dumpster a couple of yars ago with no cover, but at least it wasn't smashed. That's what B.B. does to all of their old movies. Big deal, we all know how to 'transport the tape into a good case. I just got lucky on this one . I guess.
