Review of Citizenfour (2014) by Alex W — 21 Feb 2015
Not remarkable for its editing or story telling but for its total and complete access to a gigantic world event as its happening. This is the equivalent of having footage of every meeting with deep throat, if someone has the forethought we have the technology to get any major event big or small, clandestine or public on film.
Usualy the central character of a story has many unique characteristic but Edward goes out of his way, for the sake of the information he is releasing, to make the focus not be him but the info. He is one of the most calm logical people you will ever see.
We watch him navigate a narrow tightrope as he paints a target on his back so now one else is to blame while trying to remain an mundane person. This doc is definitely in support of him but after watching it its very hard to see how a person could have made any different choices then he did.
