Review of Citizenfour (2014) by Brandon W — 18 Sep 2015
I only wanted to see Citizenfour for one reason and one reason only, and that's to see the intend of the documentary. I'm not seeing this just because of Oliver Stone's Snowden, just watching it because it seem like an important film for me to watch, which after watching it, really did turn out to be an important documentary movie.
The movie goes to Edward Snowden really quick, and it gets really interesting. Edward Snowden is quite a fascinating person that he sort of knew about what's he doing, what the result of it is, and whether or not it'll affect his family.
Even though I don't understand half the stuff he was saying, I was still invested in this film nonetheless. When he was saying the stuff about the NSA, it really shocked me and I kept looking at my Apple computer at times, thinking if they are watching me still.
Edward has some funny moments, and I feel bad for him that in my opinion, he did the right thing, but it was an illegal thing to do which the U.S government is looking for him. I like the way they set up the interview and how the interview goes as it makes it feel realistic and never felt like it was acting like a documentary film.
Knowing with what Edward Snowden says, it really makes it feel like a horror in disguise with the NSA watching us which would make a lot of people uncomfortable. Citizenfour is one of the best documentaries I've seen in a long time that kept me invested from beginning to end.
