Review of Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Away (2012) by Todd R — 22 Dec 2012
A story about a woman who goes to the circus and falls in love with the aerialist who also falls in love with her. During his act, he misses his aerial bar and falls to the ground which sucks him under like an hourglass.
The woman is also sucked into the ground and thus begins her journey to find her love. The movie is a collaboration of various acts from the resident Vegas shows. I've seen just about every Cirque show live including the ones in this movie.
In a live Cirque show, there are transitions between the acts that make sense, but most of the transitions in the show either didn't exist or didn't make sense. It was very distracting. The music was nice, but it sounded exactly like the studio recordings of the show.
I would rather have heard a live recording. I enjoy watching the shows live, but I found this show a bit boring, and I suspect most people, especially those unfamiliar with Cirque, will find this boring as well.
I also felt the 3D added nothing to the movie.
