Review of Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Away (2012) by Colson E — 22 Dec 2012
For my first actual review of a movie, I wanted it to be this one. This movie was absolutely flawless. It doesn't deserve any of the crap it's getting from critics. I went to see this movie tonight with my siblings and my dad.
My dad normally doesn't come to the movies with us, he prefers to stay at home and "get some things done" while my mother, me, and my siblings go to the movies. But he insisted on taking us to see this one.
Now you have to understand that my dad is a very serious guy when it comes to movies. Don't get me wrong he's a very nice and honest man, but he doesn't take any crap. He started tearing up during the movie.
When we got back home I asked him what his favorite part of the movie was. He looked at me and said,"The story." He said, and I quote,"This woman is bored with her everyday life. In her eyes, she's lost everything that she cares about.
But for some reason, she's intrigued by this circus. She goes, not expecting much, until she sees him. They meet eyes, and know instantly that they want to be together forever. But then, his boss comes up behind him and yells at him to return to work, breaking the moment.
She walks away from the big top, intimidated by this man. But then, a sad clown gives her a flyer for the mans act. He's an aerialist who swings on the trapeze. Intrigued once again she returns to the big top.
She sticks out the circus and eventually does see him perform. When about to make his final swing to safety, they lock eyes once again breaking his focus. He falls to the ground, but the ground caves in on itself transporting him into the world of Cirque du Soleil.
She has a choice. She can either walk away from this and pretend it never happened. Or she can go in after him. She realizes, "I've lost everything in this world. Family, friends, or anyone who cares about me.
But, i'm not giving up my one chance at love." She then follows in search of him." If this movie can make him get all emotional like that, then it is the must see of the year. Please go see this film! You won't be disappointed.
Oh, and comparing it to seeing a live show is just crap. Of course a MOVIE can't compete with seeing a live Cirque du Soleil show. You have to judge it by looking at with a movie theater perspective.
