Review of Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Away (2012) by Jacob S — 25 Dec 2012
Cirque Du Soleil: Worlds Away December 21.
Initial Reaction:
I hope it's not Cirque De Okay.
Main Characters.
Mia: She's just an average girl played by Erica Linz.
The Aerialist: He's, um, an aerialist played by Igor Zaripov.
Plot Summary.
This film follows Mia's journey to find the aerialist through a long and strange journey through a series of circus performances.
SCORING.
Main Characters.
There's not much to know about these two except they really want to find each other. But as performers, they are really good - and the act they have at the end of the film is one of the best I've seen. SCORE: 9.
Supporting Cast.
There are other performers in the circus, and they are just as good as the leading pair. But I really have trouble knowing what exactly some of them are aiming to do - help Mia or stop Mia or take Mia prisoner or what? SCORE: 8.
Plot.
The first act is okay, but it seems like the story gets put on hold for far too long. But there's a nice buildup to a great climactic scene. SCORE: 8.
Originality.
This is the first film that I've seen that tries to tell a story soley with dancing. SCORE: 9.
Violence Factor.
Not much, really. You can see that any fights are completely choreographed, and that no really harm is being done to anyone. SCORE: 8.
Other Moral Issues.
Some of the audience may not like the skimpy outfits that some of the dancers wear - but it's okay for me. But I would really like to know why Mia and the Aerialist fall so deeply in love with each other. SCORE: 8.
Final Score (out of 60): 50 % Score: 83.33%.
It's a good film that different from the other dancing films.
