Review of Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Away (2012) by George B — 26 Dec 2012
Cirque de Soleil is an incredibly beautiful phenomenon and it's hard to analyze a film that is essentially a cinematic best-of their standing shows. Sights and sounds are amazing, and the performances are mind-blowing -- at times even surpassing the stage shows, thanks to the use of close-ups and slow-motion shots that allow you to get deeper into the performance.
If there's one critique to be made it's that the Beatles music (from the "Love" show) feels incongruous with the rest of the score. But it's hard to go wrong with Cirque de Soleil -- either you love it or you don't -- and for those that love it, this film will be a wonderful experience.
