Review of Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant (2009) by John L — 06 Feb 2011
An interesting plot, engaging characters and dialogue, ast pacing ... a pretty entertaining movie overall. Surprised to see John C. Reilly play one of the lead characters so very well. I'm used to seeing play goofy, off the wall characters before, but in this movie, he actually did very well in his first serious role I've seen him play.
Michael Cerveris as Mr. Tiny also had a great performance, he is relatively unknown, and was surprised to learn he played the Observer on the Fringe TV Series.
The movie is based on one of those preteen to teen supernatural series of books that was started by The Harry Potter series, and this one did a pretty good job of transitioning the book to the movie. Highly recommended.
