Review of Circle of Friends (1995) by Courtney W — 25 Aug 2010
This is a sweet romance that many people, especially young women will be able to identify with. Minnie Driver portrays Bernadette "Benny" Hogan, a young woman coming of age in small town Ireland in the late fifties. She is a big girl and self-conscious about that; her friends are a feisty orphan girl and a picture perfect young woman. She falls for the college star, a boyishly handsome Chris O'Donnell and her parents hope that she'll marry an ever creepy Alan Cumming.
The locations are beautiful, the story is great and it is well acted by all. Give it a look see,a nd if you like it, read the book, and any of Maeve Binchy's.
