I avoided this movie for so long because I didn't like neither of the lead actors, but since my recent and new appreciation of Russelll Crowe's talents I decided to watch the movie. I have to say I actually like Rene Zellweger in this movie as well. It's not usual when I actually like watching this lady act. the only other movie I like her in is Chicago and that about sums it up.

I really enjoyed this movie because it didn't only focus on the boxing, but it also went deep to the personal lives of the people involved, as well as the political and economic trials they had to go through. Another thing I liked about this movie is the editing, especially during the boxing matches, which made me feel that much more nervous every time Braddock went in the rink to fight.

I gotta say this is my third favorite Russell Crowe performance after Gladiator and A Beautiful Mind. He just wore that character like it was his own. His accent was perfect and his facial expressions and body language were so true to the period!

That is what I love about Russell Crowe (even though he doesn't always credit himself as so) but he is a naturally born actor, just like Cate Blanchett, Kate Winslet, Ewan Mcgregor, James Mcavoy and Christian Bale...give an accent and a character to these actors and they will swallow it whole and bring it out of their own pours.

At any rate I highly recommend this movie if you haven't seen it yet.
