Review of Chungking Express (1994) by Valentin G — 22 May 2008
This movie was great. Even though there wasn't really a plot, it keeps you captivated on the lives of these people, with their quirky idiosyncrasies. It is a Chinese movie, but has a European feel to the storytelling.
It was made so the Director, Wong Kar Wai, could take a break from his biggest movie "Ashes of Time". He was having trouble with production and post; and decided to shoot a quick passion piece to invigorate him and help him finish "Ashes".
Even though it was done in an expedited manner, he still tells a beautiful tale. It is a must-see.
