I certainly had high hopes for this one - the "Breathless" of the 1990's? But while it did have the director's unconventionial narrative style and the gorgeous visuals, there was none of the agony or hypnotism of Kar-Wai's more challenging works.
The film turned out to be more of an Amelie-style candybar than a truly profound outing.
