Review of Chungking Express (1994) by Kris K — 08 Feb 2009
I completely agree with film critic Amy Taubin in that, for many reasons, Chungking Express is the Masculine Feminine of the 1990s. The gritty (but beautiful) rawness of cityscapes combined with the hypersensitive dialogue, music, and unabashed interiorities are only parts of the brilliantly intricate patchwork Wong Kar-Wai fashions in this groundbreaking, no-holds-barred masterpiece.
