Review of Chungking Express (1994) by Al M — 14 Aug 2010
A peculiar and humorous film from Wong Kar Wai that likes making comparisons between food and relationships. It's oddly broken into two stories, both of which are about couples. It's very much a Wong Kar Wai film in that it's rich with color, uses multiple shooting speeds, and sports flaring lights, etc. I was tempted to give this film 3.5/5 for a rating, but I decided to give another .5 stars as it is, like most of his films, so damn charming. It's not my favorite of his, but still enjoyable to watch all the same. Though, as I do with all of Wong Kar Wai's films, I will think back on this film often.
P.S. I dug the chinese Cranberries cover. ;).
