Review of Chuck (2017) by Tim M — 30 Oct 2018
'Chuck' is an American biographical sports drama film directed by Philippe Falardeau starring Liev Schreiber, who also was part of a team of writers. The film depicts the life of heavyweight boxer Chuck Wepner and his 1975 title fight with the heavyweight champion, Muhammad Ali, which inspired Sylvester Stallone's character and screenplay for the 1976 film Rocky.
'Chuck' never connected emotionally, but the story is a good one. Wepner has a lot of range to his character and Schreiber deftly pulls off the roll. It's the type of movie that has been done hundreds of times and is a take it or leave it kind of drama. Final Score: 5.8/10.
