Review of Christine (1987) by Niklas K — 09 Mar 2009
They say you should never watch a movie after having read the book. In the case of Christine I am inclined to both agree and disagree. If I hadn't read the book before watching the movie, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have understood any of it.
It's the most incoherent compilation of fotage I think I've ever seen. Stephen King's grand and great plot and story is reduced to something that might as well have been written by a 12 year old.
That's however always the problem with making 1h30min movies of King's books. There's just not enough time to make the story and plot justice. If we then put the paperthin plot aside, there's just too much in the movie that is just plain wrong, when you have tha "facts" of the tory from the book.
Too many things have been switched around, altered, compressed or just missunderstood when they translated the book to a moviescript. If you want my opinion, there are many, many far better ways to waste and hour and a half of your life.
