Review of Christine (1983) by Richard C — 01 Oct 2010
There are a lot of faults evident, but if you take a liking to the concept then it'll be dismissable. I don't know if there was error in adaptation but there is no explanation for several key things which are required in the film, and as such it leaves a sense of emptiness, with implied ideas up for grabs.
The story is a common tale of obsession empowering a bullied nerd. And warning: the girlfriend character suffers at the hands of the narcissistic ass (I can't stand those plots). The running time is lengthy for its thin storyline, and the dialogue and climax are pretty bad, but the infrequent special effects are worth it.
....Was it even supposed to be scary? The oldies theme playing to chase and death scenes swung and missed, and I don't even remember being scared of this movie as a kid.
