Review of Chopping Mall (1986) by Spencer B — 28 Apr 2008
As far as B-movies go, this one is one of my personal favorites. It's ridiculously cheesy, incredibly low-budget, and loaded with "THIS IS THE 1980's" goodness. I want the soundtrack.
The three killer robots, or "Killbots," make the movie. For one, they look awesome, and also manage to be both incredibly silly and unreasonably badass, sometimes at the same time. The catch-phrase "THANK YOU, HAVE A NICE DAY" is probably one of the best things ever.
It can get a bit slow when focusing on the teenagers, but the Killbots don't usually give them enough time to be all dramatic, so that's good.
All in all, if you like murderous robots, B-movies, and/or the 1980s, you owe it to yourself to watch this movie.
