Review of Chopping Mall (1986) by Michael T — 28 May 2008
Typical Jim Wynorski flick made for Corman's New World Pictures and, basically, released directly onto VHS back in the day.
The best thing about this picture is that the Killbots (the alternative and better title) are well-designed FX. Also, Paul Bartel and Mary Woronov make a cameo appearance as the Blands (frome EATING RAOUL) and Dick Miller plays a janitor named Walter Paisley (from Corman's BUCKET OF BLOOD).
Otherwise, the plot is standard stalk & chase as the malfunctioning bots kill any of the poor unfortunate and incredibly good-looking youn actors and actresses partying in the mall after hours.
Another movie in-joke, the kids arm themselves at Peckinpah's Guns. It doesn't do them any good, however.
