Review of Chopper (2000) by Darryl K — 13 Apr 2011
Chopper Read is one guy I'd never like to meet. And its easy to see why Bana later shot to stardom with this amazingly disturbing performance of Chopper, a troubled soul trapped by the actions resulting from his own insecurities.
In the vein of another twisted-criminal bio-pic(Bronson), style and drama win out over giving an accurate portrayal of the true-life individual in which the story is based. And as in Bronson's case, it works extremely well here.
With visceral moments that borderline on brilliance, Dominik's story and direction really shine. While this story isn't about a likeable character, this is still a highly entertaining story crafted by skillful hands.
I highly recommend it!
