Review of Chop Shop (2008) by Generoso F — 02 Mar 2008
Mixed feelings about this one. the writers do a great job of creating plenty of quiet, intense "life moments": the actors are given free reign to express the raw emotion of their life conditions, set against an almost 3rd-world like depiction of willet's point (which almost takes a supporting actor role in this film).
but the film lacks a bit of structure. I think at times directors are so conscious of not being "hollywood" they forget how useful things like plot, conflict and dénouement can be.
