Review of Choke (1971) by Braden J — 19 Jun 2009
Sam Rockwell gives his all; but the director and screenwriters don't. This film just does not do the book justice. For example. my favorite scene in the book is when Victors mother traces his shadow.
It's supposed to show how dedicated Victor was to his mother, but in the movie the scene is extremely disappointing. In the book, the scene is beautiful and especially emotional. In the movie, it's completely different and forgettable.
If that scene had been translated correctly, it could've been very powerful. Some books should be left as books.
