Review of Choke (1971) by Roger T — 25 Jul 2009
This so-called comedy was dark, sick and (yes, I'm using that cliche) twisted, but brilliantly so. I hadn't heard of this film when I rented it, but the DVD cover represented it as "a dirty-minded, satirical, psychotic comedy," right up up alley, I presumed.
Silly me, I thought I was in for American Pie-type potty humour with less obvious sexual innuendos. Nuh uh-- not even close. It was much, much deeper than that. That said, I enjoyed it, but it's an acquired taste.
