Review of Chocolat (2000) by Caiti S — 08 Oct 2011
Chocolat was a really fun movie that explored the deep themes of bringing everyone together. The story was very enjoyable, and every scene where Vianne was making chocolate made my mouth water. All the actors did briliant jobs, with my only qualm being "WHY ISN'T THERE MORE JOHNNY??!!" Haha! The town was the perfect setting and I loved the variety of scenes, switching from the church to the choocolate shoppe to Roux's boat.
The music was very distinct in the movie and I loved the airy, light sound. I loved the relationship between Vianne and Juliette and their friendship was very endearing. What intrigued me most was I really didn't pay attention to who the narrator of the story was, and I loved how the ending tied the story neatly together.
Chocolat will literally make your heart melt with all the different stories about love, acceptance and yummy sweets!
