Review of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (1968) by Bill T — 05 Jul 2016
Musical pretty atypical for the period, with Mary Poppins and Bedknobs and Broomsticks being far more superior examples of children's musicals. Heck MGM even doled out Dick Van Dyke for this. I mean it's OK, but there's no really memorable songs except for the title tune which is quite catchy.
I mean I've actually never seen this movie before, but even I sort of remembered the title tune. The other main problem with this is the film's gargantuan length. I mean you can have a musical of 2 1/2 hours but it needs better source material.
