Review of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (1968) by Ana C — 15 Apr 2009
I was watching the other day the world premiere of ?Mary Poppins? as transmitted on the Los Angeles local television in 1964. I was looking forward to seeing the children-actors , to see their reaction at the world premiere of their , if not first, biggest movie.
.. The children actors were not there...actually except for Dick van Dike ?children? there were none...But the Disney characters, dwarfs, Snow White, Goofy, Mickey mouse, Minnie were all there ,surrounding their Creator.
Suddenly Walt Disney on that occasion reminded me of theVulgarian dictator from ? Chitty Chitty Bang Bang?, and reminded me that the excellent Roald Dahl wrote the script of that very Disney non-Disney movie .
.. So, is it impossible for Disney to have been some sort of inspiration for the character created by Fleming/ Roald Dahl? I mean except for having a Disney like story, Disney actors and musicians?.
