Review of Chinese Zodiac (2012) by Troy F — 16 Oct 2013
I had no idea what was going on most of the time, the film is awfully cheesy and random, acting all over the scale, just everything a big mess of fun. I enjoyed the hell of this no matter how sloppy it was.
Jackie Chan directed and pretty much had involvement with everything else with the film, starring in it, writing it, etc. I couldn't help but be amazed at how freakin' odd and random the film was in jumping all over the place, but it reminded me of quirky scenarios out of an anime, and it was absolutely hilarious and fun to watch.
Jackie Chan's getting older, but he still does some crazy ass stunt work as seen in this film, and it impresses as usual. CZ12 deserves its negative criticism towards being sloppy, but as far as entertainment goes, its surpasses most of the action films I see in theaters.
I literally finished this movie and thought "This is the kinda of shit I want to see, forget most of the other shit I see in the year, cause this movie simply satisfies my first for quirky, fun action entertainment!".
CZ12 is very flawed, but its because its so unconventional and laughably stupid that it absolutely works.
