Review of Chinatown (1974) by Macdara C — 14 Jun 2011
(Watched Wed 8 Jun 2011) Finally saw it after all this time. I didn't expect it to have so much humour; I always got the impression that it was darker than dark. It's the contrast between the heavy subject matter and those lighter moments that makes it work, reflecting the stark expressionist visuals of the classic noirs that inspired this very film.
That's my take on it, anyway.
