Review of Chinatown (1974) by Connor G — 21 Jul 2013
An absolutely stellar film, with a disagreeable-with-actors director, but a wonderful visual man. Jake has to be one of the best film detectives that I've ever seen. It had quite a slow buildup, and maintained that slowness even through the action, but like all mysteries, the audience, and myself, love to see all the ends meet and tie together.
Jack Nicholson gave a usual excellent performance, perhaps better than some of his other works. The pace kind of dragged at parts, but it was still captivating.
