Review of Chillerama (2011) by Max K — 06 Dec 2011
Buckets of Blood, Bile, Flesh, Foam, Poop, Piss, Sperm, Gore, Snores... Ray Wise, Lin Shaye, Kane Hodder, Eric Roberts as a Patton-like general named Gen. Bukkake trying to destroy a giant spunk creature named Wadzilla... more poop, more puke, more corpses, more body hair, more bears in bondage leather with fangs, more chest hair, more musical numbers, "The Diary of Anne Frankenstein", a suicidal Richard Riehle... I mean, listen: It ALL sounds like a PARTY on paper. A throw-back to the old days of midnight movies at the drive-in. A compilation feature in the vein of "Creepshow" and "Cat's Eye". But it's all SO cheaply thrown together and poorly written and (more often than not) horrifically performed... that by the end you feel like you just passed through a John Waters impersonator's colon.
This was one of the entries I missed at Screamfest this year. I'm kind of glad I did now. I had plenty of opportunities to pause it and stare at the ceiling at home. Available on streaming Netflix.
