Review of Chillerama (2011) by John M — 11 Jun 2012
The movie premise is a decaying Drive-In is having one last splatterfest and chaos pursues in between films. The first film Wadzilla was nothing more than one long penis joke. It did showcase some decent special fx's but other than that it was a passable story.
Our next flick was I was A Teenage Werebear, it did have some humorous moments, but these were overshadowed by the overly cheesy musical numbers, and then there is The Diary of Anne Frankenstein, which was amusing.
The mock German helps add to the comedy. The moments of violence are intense, so be aware. The last story Deathifacation is just out right wrong. But is only a joke short and doesn't last very long.
As for the main story; the director uses his talents well. The make-up and camera work are put to full effect. The sex jokes and violence run rampant as it get's closer to the end. There are moments that make ya laugh, but it's mostly just morbid shock humor.
The movie quotes are so numerous that I lost count of them all. The film in general tries to remind us of those nights at the drive in when the B-movies were tacky and tasteless, but were king of the Drive-in.
In all the film is good and worth renting. I wouldn't say buy...unless your sick like me; if I find this in stores I'm getting it. But for the layman just a hangout flick and nothing more sadly.
