Review of Child's Play 3 (1991) by Paul J — 23 Apr 2012
The most controversial of the Chucky series. It was banned because of the paint gun scene - there was supposedly a copycat killing. Switching paint pellets for live ammo, especially involving young kids, had the the censors in a tizzy.
Apart from that segment (as well as the hand grenade bit) the film is very tame. It's a competently made sequel with some pretty big set pieces near the end. The production value ain't bad and the characters are somewhat likable.
It's refreshing to have the girlfriend be the one to teach our hero how to shoot. I suppose if I was twelve, I'd be a big fan of the film. For the average audience, it's very mediocre.
