Review of Children of Men (2006) by Ashish T — 15 Aug 2013
Pretty decent in the casual, gritty realism of a very interestingly shot movie - long, single action takes that work to make the experience completely immersive while also not staying static, repetitive, or boring.
The storyline - a series of small lives caught up in something huge - is fair enough, with some very decent performances - but the one thing that will really get you is the long shots, especially some with nail-biting timing.
It's definitely an interesting experience to watch this, and the insights into the nature of humanity come across slyly from the sidelines, asides, and backgrounds. Very, very watchable.
