Cuaron is easily one of the best filmmakers around right now. He understands how to build a world and the characters that live in it, making us want to genuinely go on the journey with those characters no matter how bright or dark that road may be.
Children of Men is a dark road that never lets up. Few modern sci-fi flicks can deliver the depth of story and the captivating action all in one swift movement.
