Review of Children of Men (2006) by Ariah K — 12 Jun 2012
Cuaron paints a future that feels very real, a notable accomplishment for an apocalyptic science fiction film. From the workings of the economy and government to the intricacies of personal life, the version of reality presented here is wholly possible and believable.
This is how we would be with the caveat that human reproduction were no longer possible. This is why we relate so well to the characters and why Cuaron's mode of presentation -- strict observation -- strikes such success.
In this light, the presentation is intelligent. It recognizes that the story can move forward without its every detail being narrated to us.
