Review of Children of Men (2006) by Gregory M — 20 Jan 2019
Alfonso Cuarón has become one of my favorite directors. His movies are all different, all unique, all well thought, all well mastered, all well executed. "Children of Men" is a haunting movie.
A heavy story, showcasing a grim future. But there's suddenly hope in all the despair and that's what the movie is about. But while focusing on the hope, Cuarón shows the real problems, the real dark moments, the real threats of mankind.
He doesn't shy away from images that are grim, haunting and raw. "Children of Men" is set in a futuristic world, but the themes that it carries feel very current and real already. Alfonso Cuarón created another little gem of a movie with this.
"Children of Men" is a haunting reminder that we are all to blame for humanity's misfortunes.
