Review of Children of a Lesser God (1986) by Robert W — 13 Jun 2010
"Children of a Lesser God" is an iconic picture about deaf people. While it's mentality about teaching the deaf to speak is very dated (it's an 80s film after all), it does feature some symbolic cinematography and spot on performances by William Hurt, Marlee Matlin (who took home the best actress oscar) and Piper Laurie (a far cry from her role in "Carrie").
It's manipulative and plays out very much like a soap opera for most of it's runtime, but "Children of a Lesser God" is an important film due to the delivery of it's content.
