Review of Chico & Rita (2010) by Emma P — 16 Jan 2013
A poignant meandering film with great Cuban music. The love and life-pressures experienced by the two musicians,Rita and Chico, in 1950s Cuba and the USA are sensitively carved out. At the end Rita, makes a speech denouncing racism (which is shown to be rife throughout the film) - more should have been made of this to make a poignant love story into a powerful multifaceted tale.
