Review of Chicken with Plums (2011) by Alan C — 23 Jun 2012
After Persepolis, M. Satrapi and V. Paronnaud are back with another tale using Iran as a background, but this time it's a live-action film (though it uses standard animation to add some magic to the more whimsical elements).
It's original, cute and moving. The structure seems like a mess at times, but it makes sense in the end. The acting is all-around solid, and despite some darker themes, there are a few laugh-out-loud moments.
Solid.
